It's not perfection; how boring if it is.

Here's to living in the moment.

What was your favorite fairy tale as a child?

God, I haven't blogged in a while. It's not that I don't want to blog, it's just, oddly enough, I can never seem to find the time. It's like there's so many things I want to do - pull out that dusty WiiFit from behind the TV table and lose some weight, fix my iPod music information and cover art, start watching the Big Bang Theory, bake some cookies - but even though I tell myself, I'll do this now, I'll do this today, I never do!

It's not that surprising on weekdays, really, what with school and all, but on weekends and free days and school breaks, God, does time fly. I have this great schedule in my head - at ten I'll watch Breakfast at Tiiffany's, at one I'll finish editing the next chapter of my fanfiction, at three I'll try out that manga that Jess was suggesting - and at six in the evening, I stare at Sims 3 on my computer monitor in horror. (I'm not blaming Sims 3 for my poor time management and procrastination, though. It's a fantastic way to waste time).

I miss summer.

And this is probably a horrible example of me, but I've got a Bio long test tomorrow, and I stil have about four pages of notes to swim through, and here I am, blogging on my sadly empty Livejournal. But I've never been particularly interested in science, to be honest. I just can't wrap my head around these strange concepts of plasmids and ribosomes and centrioles and what-have-you. I mean, what do they do? Sure, there's protein synthesis and lipid modification and substance storage and all that, but it's all vague and fuzzy. My Bio teacher is awesome, don't get me wrong. I'm the one with the problem. I really don't understand cells. I know the facts and stuff, but if anyone ever asked me to explain the concept as a whole, I'd be at a loss for words.

History I can understand better, for some strange reason. I adore history. Right now, we're studying Asian history and culture, and it's all terribly fascinating. Sure, I have to memorise a lot of crap, but a lot of it is pretty cool. I can deal with the whole Amaterasu-coming-out-from-her-dad's-eye thing better than protein pumps and osmosis. My friends tell me it's the opposite for them - it's much easier to study for Bio than for History.

Heh. Makes me wonder how I got placed in advanced science.

Off to trudge through four pages of notes about cell membrane function.

It's Memorial Day in the States, a time to remember those who have died while in military service. Who would you like to remember today?

View 500 Answers

Today, even though I don't live in the States, I'd like to remember my great-grandparents on my father's side.

My great-grandfather, Mariano, was a general here in the Philippines. Even though he died in 1990, four years before I was born, whenever I or any of my cousins talk about him, we refer to him as Papa General. I should clarify here that he didn't die in battle. If I recall correctly, he died because of a kidney operation. Daddy was his oldest grandchild, and Papa General spoiled him. Actually, I think Dad even lived with Papa General for a few months in the year. I never met Papa General, but everyone always speaks highly of him.

My great-grandmother, Libertad, the wife of Mariano, owned a beach resort in Zambales. She died in November 2005. Ever since I was a baby, we spent Holy Week at the beach resort. When Lala wasn't at the resort, she was in her home at our compound. Every day, my cousins and I were supposed to visit her and talk to her for a while. As I grew older, I didn't go every day, but I made it a habit to go once a week. I didn't know Lala that well, because I was still in the fifth grade when she died, and I guess I regret that a little. Lala was an interesting lady. All her maids called her Senora. She had some Spanish blood in her. If I could go back in time, I would've visited Lala more often.

Today, I pray for Papa General, Lala, and all my other deceased relatives.

Totally clueless.

I have no idea what to do anymore. I can't lie anymore, even to myself. I just can't. So what the hell am I going to do? I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.

*deep breath* Okay. Let's change the subject. I can't rant here, as people I know will be reading this, and I don't want anyone's feelings to get hurt.

(...But if I can't rant here, where can I rant?)

(Blogger, maybe.)

(New blog? Twilight bashing blog can't be used.)

(Maybe, that might work.)

Ahem. Gotta go. Sleepover at Izak's.

P.S. Omegle's a very good stress reliever.

Do you believe in monogamy?

View 501 Answers

Strangely enough, considering my faith in humanity is in the negatives, I do believe that monogamy exists and that it can work. Personally, I wouldn't ever enter a polygamous relationship. I'm a Roman Catholic born and raised in a very religious country. I am against divorce. Generally, I am against abortion. I am against gay adoption, but not gay marriage - but that's for another blog. It stands that I wouldn't ever enter a polygamous relationship.

I am not against it, no. It's just that I would never be polygamous myself. It's partly because of my religious upbringing, but the main reason is that I just don't understand polygamy. I'm a hopeless romantic; to me, there is only one "The One". I can only have romantic feelings for one person. I don't understand how polygamous people can have feelings for more than one person at the same time. (Unless the polygamy in question is of a sexual nature. If it is, all I can say is that I hope that all of your partners know that you're having sex with another person and that you're all tested for STDs.) So yeah, polygamy would never work out for me, because I don't understand it to begin with.

So, monogamy: it exists. It can work. It works for me. If you don't really love and trust and share with your significant other/spouse/whatever, it can be boring. But if your "The One" is truly "The One", then it's a really beautiful thing.

And can I say that if you're married and things aren't working out with your husband/wife, cheating/having an affair is not the answer? Like I said, I am against divorce - to me, marriage is the biggest commitment you'll ever make and if you're going to go through with it, you'd better make sure you love that person and are ready to spend the rest of your life with them - but I'd rather you separate or divorce your spouse than cheat on them. Having said that, I don't think you should divorce the moment you're having problems. WORK IT OUT, people. Share your secrets, let everything out. Don't repress your feelings. Go see a marriage counsellor, if you like.

And this is how a simple answer to a simple, weirdly-worded writer's block question turned into a lecture to people about to divoce.

Final note! To all you polygamous people out there: as long as all of your partners know that you've got other partners, I don't dislike you. XD

How many (if any) songs do you know by heart? What are they?

A lot of songs by Taylor Swift, Frank Sinatra, and... yeah, that's about it. Kind of sad.

Find out why, plus a hilarious quote from BD )The weather's so messed up that rainy season's coming a few months too early. To make things worse, a tropical storm that could become a typhoon's supposed to hit Manila in a few days. My hope is that it goes north and misses us completely. I love rain, but thunderstorms and no electricity are not my thing.

Tennis lessons are fun - I finally figured out how to serve properly! :3 I'm just not sure if I'll be any good in an actual game. All we're doing in lessons are drills, which are fun, but... yeah. Not the real thing. Anyway, Coach will be teaching us the basics like scoring, where to serve, etc. on Friday, so excited for that!

Haha, I just found this quote in Breaking Dawn that is so apt it's hilarious. It pretty much describes my feelings after reading the book. Scratch that, the whole Twilight series (it is not a saga, but that's for another post)

"I wanted to somehow pour bleach inside my head and let it fry my brain." - Jacob Black, p. 356, Breaking Dawn.

See? Srsly, my exact sentiments after reading each book. XDD

The only reason I found the quote is because I'm going through BD with a red pen. I promised myself that I'd never put myself through the torture of reading such a horrible book again, but I'm bored, and it's actually a great source of epic lulz. The mistakes in the book, grammatical and otherwise, are hilarious! *grins* Example: "My own eyes flew open."

Srsly. It's the first sentence of the third chapter. Second page of that chapter, Mary-Sue Bella states that she's making pancakes for Charlie. Halfway down the page, Charlie starts eating from a cereal bowl. Now, I don't know about you, but I don't eat pancakes from a cereal bowl. *grins*

In other news, I am being pressured to play Resto City on Facebook. I like the games on Facebook, but I can barely keep up with my Pet Society and Mafia Wars accounts! Which is weird, considering it's summer and I'm bored. It probably has to do with the fact that my Internet time is cut in half by my sister. Our router isn't working, so only one computer can have Internet access at a time. *sighs* It's not really all her fault, though - most of the time I do have the Internet, I'm on /ts/. It's fast becoming one of my favorite websites EVOR.

I'm off - House marathon! <3

Came back from the beach yesterday afternoon!

It was a family weekend getaway, so to speak. I was only out on the beach for maybe five hours, but I'm sunburnt.
Very, very sunburnt.

Surprisingly, it isn't my back or face that hurts. It's my shoulders.
I can't wear any tight sleeved shirts for fear of causing my shoulders to burn.
And being out in the sun just burns my sunburn.

^^ That's a really cool sentence. XD

Anyway. I've been working on some fanfiction, actually wrote three whole new chapters for Spin, but I keep on forgetting to post. I'd post now but I lose the Internet in six minutes. My sister = UGH.

Au revoir.

April Fool's Day was  fun. Visited an orphanage and played with the kids. Really great.

TwilightSucks, which is fast becoming one of my favorite websites, had a great April Fool's prank. Said that they were hacked on their front page. What was funny was that the Twilight fans were actually rejoicing and taking credit for it. If you highlighted the whole page, in tiny font the same color as the pink background that made my eyes bleed, there was a message saying that it was a joke.

I do love TS.

I really have to get back into writing fanfiction. You'd think that with summer I'd have ten chapters up, but it seems like I have less time for writing in the summer than I do in the school year. *sigh*

Ignore the title. It's just me being bitter that my social life is ruined thanks to my overprotective parents. I love them, but - Ugh. It's the 21st century, for God's sake.

A High School Freshman's Guide to Studying for Exams
the world is insane
[info]lastminutepanic
Last day of finals are tomorrow. :O
I'll miss my class, but I'm just so happy that it's almost summer!
*dances around in celebration*

Anyway, I have come up with good strategies - well, they work for me, at least - in studying for exams.
It's not guaranteed to work, all right?
  • Study for thirty minutes, take a five to ten minute break, and continue for thirty minutes, then take another break, and so on and so forth. It is scientifically proven that your brain can only concentrate properly for about thirty minutes. So maximize this. Give your brain a break. ;)
  • Make sure you have everything you need before starting. In my case, I'll get up to get a highlighter, get distracted by my brother playing DotA, and then half an hour has passed before I remember that I was studying. Tsk.
  • READ IT THROUGH. Before I entered high school, I wrote reviewers while reading. While making reviewers is encouraged(repetition transfers things to your long-term memory faster), sometimes you don't really concentrate on what you're reading. Sometimes (especially for Science and History), I just write down every name or date or place that looks important, without understanding what it means. So, what I suggest is that you read through the chapters - yes, just read - and then, read it again while writing a reviewer.
  • Play some music. Classical music is scientifically proven to stimulate your memory (personally, I like Chopin), but my friends say rock works for them, so... *shrugs* Whatever floats your boat, I s'pose.
  • Make sure you get at least two hours of sleep. A few days ago, I slept at about three in the morning, and woke up two hours later. I could barely keep my eyes awake. I actually ended up falling asleep in the middle of the Science exam. Thank God my friend poked me with her pencil and woke me up. Imagine if I pulled an all-nighter like I was supposed to (luckily, I finished studying earlier than I thought).
  • Highlight in moderation. Yes, highlighters do help your memory. I think the color stimulates your memory. But, if you hgihlight the whole book... there's really no point to a highlighter, is there? I was guilty of this until I learned to highlight. There's no need for you to highlight a whole sentence, unless it's VERY important. Determine which names, dates, and other facts are important, and highlight only those. In my History book, a lot of people and dates and places are mentioned, but only about 25% are important.
Well, that's all for now. I might think of something else later.
Cheers.

Pretty good, actually.

Ugh, I wanna do what whats-her-face did. The girl named Sarah in the movie. Her powers are so cool.
Speaking of whats-her-face, is she the girl from Bridge to Terabithia? As in the movie?
*Googles*
Yes, it is her! She's also from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, if I'm not mistaken.

Okay, confession#1: I find Alexander Ludwig cute. :)

Mwahaha. Urgh, finals on Tuesday.
Must start studying.

Lalalala. Not sure what to do here.

Heh. I'm just making this for the sake of making a post.

Huzzah, first post!
